Guardian article about bloggers

Bloggers and internet pundits are exerting a "disproportionately large influence" on society, according to a report by a technology research company. Its study suggests that although "active" web users make up only a small proportion of Europe's online population, they are increasingly dominating public conversations and creating business trends.

In a parallel way, bloggers have had a disproportionate influence on political parties and trends here in the U.S. Hooray for communication which doesn't depend directly on financial wherewithall! Clearly, this is a market that needs to be tapped.

But there is a down side, as well. Is the "educated" (blogging-abled) public equally as estranged from the un- and undereducated? Are the resources committed to blogging and other technical communication forms missing an increasingly large segment of the population?

Being a library (or any other egalitarian entity) is tricky when both ends of the socioeconomic scale require attention.
