Open Discussion – What’s new at your branch?
NR- Jenny is looking for a brochure/handout with Ohio core academic standards by grade. If anyone knows where to get these, please share.
Bethel Book Bus will be running this summer, preschool to grade 4. Operated by the Bethel Primary & Intermediate School, the program will target at risk youth
to measurably improve reading skills. The old style “book mobile” will be staffed by school personnel; library staff will provide entertainment and prizes.
Milford had a very successful Thomas the Tank program. A visit by the Fire Dept with a fire truck is being planned for the summer.
UT will be operating a booth at the Brantner Family Literacy Night to promote library programs. They are also testing a change in story-times, from registration
required to drop-in. Teen advisory board is being developed.
OE Story time with a sign language component is being planned.

Youth Reference Survey will run from May 1 to May 31. Each Branch will receive 100 sets of a short survey to be completed by young people ages 7-17 and staff. About 200 lollipops will be delivered to be given to children that complete the survey. All completed surveys should be in the June 1 shuttle to Liz at Administration. The Young People Survey and Staff Instructions are copied below.

Outreach Training – the suggestion has been made that we have outreach training. Many thought that better than formal training would be best practices or perhaps an informal networking discussion group. Outreach expectations were the topic of a Liz Fiene memo – Preschool and Elementary School Outreach (see CCPLShare YS Folder)

Summer Reading/Daycare Weeding - Holly compiled a weeding list of gently used EZ’s. Each branch should pull this list of discards and send to Owensville. Space is limited; please make sure your books arrive May 25, no later – no earlier. May 26 you will review boxes (books & program materials) to be delivered to child care facilities in your area. County/State Agencies – Anyone with contact with a county or state agency, either casual or formal is reminded to notify the Office of Public Affairs. Tracey would like to be included to better build relationships for future partnering opportunities.

100 Best Books - Harry, the dirty dog by Gene Zion, illustrations by Margaret Graham.
When a white dog with black spots runs away from home, he gets so dirty his family doesn't recognize him as a black dog with white spots. FE YSL thought this was a cute & engaging story, art is outdated but the story is not. Suggested Read Alike - Pippin takes a bath by K.V. Johansen, illustrations by Bernice Lum

Collection Development – The May CD time study was discussed and a sample time log for Selection/Collection Maintenance/Weeding was reviewed. Holly introduced the group to a new book, Art Auction Mystery by Anna Nilsen. This is a non fiction title that would be good for Art programs. Additionally, Other CD Forms distributed to the group 1) Redwall Series Replacement order form 2) PLA list of Books with Real Guy Appeal.
