Does anyone else Twitter? Or use Second Life?

This is really good stuff, even if only to constructively prod us into becoming more engaged. The caveats at the end of the post soften the expectations a bit; I think Kathryn understands issues like "other duties as assigned," but also regards these twenty reasons as too important to disregard.
Walt Crawford blogged a good bit about his attempt to make Twitter work for him at ALA:

and though he is careful to say that he knows a number of folks who love it, he concluded that it wasn't for him.
As for Second Life, do we have any staff practitioners here at CCPL?
I find Twitter to be more of a diversion (I have this nifty Mozilla applet that lets me post to Twitter from my URLbar) than an actual practical or even necessary thing. But it's interesting to see how others are using it.

My daughter is a Twittering fool. I took at moment the other day to ask her why she is so into Twitter. She loves it because it allows her to share information with her Myspace friends by micro-blogging. Which, as defined by Stephanie is a super cool way of sharing life's big and small moments with the world, or just a handful of friends, through frequent, short messages. She went on to say that it is not just kids who are using tweet and catching micro-blogging fever. Professionals and politicians such as U.S. Democratic presidential hopefuls Barack Obama and John Edwards, who use it to keep followers up-to-date from the campaign trail. And, she as a huge supporter of Obama, receives tweet from him quite often. Twitter is like the evolution of Facebook and MySpace, at first most professional did not pay a lot of attention to the trend. So, I have been Twitter with my daughter. It nothing else it keeps us connected.

I believe our core strengths lies in the way we share knowledge and facilitate the free exchange of information, whether it is Twittering or Second Life. So, when we pool this knowledge to share technology information and solutions, we are able to create a technical foundation that we all can build on no matter if it is a staff member or a customer.
By harness the collective power of the library community, we can more readily use new technologies. Thus, enabling learning about those new technologies, so that we are then prepared to make the best choices for our own libraries and our local communities' needs.
